Have you journaled?

To be honest, me feeling a bit like an imposter writing this blog post is probably the reason why it has taken me this long to finally do it – I actually planned to publish this a while ago.

So I have been wanting to write about journaling and the wonderful effects it can have on yourself and maybe even others around you. However, I have to be honest and admit that I have not journaled for a consistent period of time for a while now which is where the imposter-like feeling comes in.

Some time ago I was doing it full-on, well maybe not as full-on as others do it, but for me, I put quite a bit of effort in.
I used to buy simple and empty journaling books, making up and drawing all my templates of habit, sleep, steps, meal trackers, and so on every month again and again to then use it throughout the months. I was probably never the person to really do it every day, as I could simply forget it on a busy day or not feel up to it on some other days. But this was completely fine with me as I did not want it to be feeling like a chore which I would end up hating because I was forcing myself to do something that, on some days, I just did not feel up to. I am sure lots of people are looking at this differently, but I just want to point out that you should simply do as feels right and good for yourself, because what might work for others might really not work for you the way you intended it to.

So, after a while, I got fairly tired of having to always prepare all parts of the journal for every month which could take quite a bit of time as I was always keen to track and note down as many things as I can which is why I decided to digitally make my very own journal template.
Fast forward probably about more than a year later and I still have not finished it yet, meaning I have not properly journaled since I made the decision to create my very own digital version that I could simply print and print again every month.

I started out fairly excited to create my own journal with InDesign, but it turned out not to be that easy after all as my Laptop, which is probably about 95 years old in Laptop years, is definitely not coping well with programs like InDesign or the big files I was working on. So, after a while, I decided to start new hoping to simplify a few things for myself, well actually mainly my laptop, to hopefully speed up the process a bit. But, this actually only happened once Amro decided to get himself a new computer set up that he needed for his own work and I subsequently decided that this set up would also be perfect for myself to speed up my process of making this journal – hence me being a very supportive girlfriend for him to make the now definitely right decision to get this new computer.
Now to be fair, it was, either way, the best decision as for his own Video editing the new PC is now saving him so many hours that it’s incredible he survived with his laptop for so long without losing patience.

Now fast forwarding again, I am still working on the last smaller fixes of what I want the first outlook of the monthly journal to look like, but know that I will definitely upload it here for a free download when it’s done – ready to print and use.

And of course, once my journaling is back to its old good use and habit, I will eventually write the blog post I initially intended to write about all the amazing benefits and positive outcomes of journaling. In the meantime, have you journaled or are you journaling? Let me know in the comments below.
