Becoming Zereine

The journey behind starting my blog and what Zereine means to me.

Welcome to my first ever blog post – I am honoured to have you here and I honestly really do mean that with all my heart and soul!

This blog has been in the making for years, endless many years of playing with the thoughts about blogging around in my head and holding myself back all this time. You can’t believe how very happy and somewhat proud I am to have finally taken the step of going ahead with it .

I had the usual suspects going around, including but oh – so – not limited to:

  • you just don’t have the time right now
  • it won’t be as fun as you can imagine it
  • no one will read and like what you are sharing
  • your blog will never be successful and have people interested
  • and the oh so well known “what will be people think?!“.

Though these may sound trivial to many of you and easy to put off – hats off to you if that is the case -, I guess you can imagine why it has taken me this long to actually start on my blog even though most of these reasons seem silly now. But I can assure you at the time they did not.

Now back to more sunny days, what do I mean with Becoming Zereine?

Now, where do I start.
Becoming Zereine is the whole journey of finding the name to this blog – which has taken probably the last year or so with trying to find what fits and sits right with me and what I want it to stand for and bring across to you.

Zereine is a blend of the words Zen, Serenity or Serene, and Sunshine.
I have chosen these words as I wanted my blog to be something positive, almost calming maybe and something that right away brings a good feeling to you, the readers, and if I am lucky maybe some laughs once in a while. These words to me portray just that – positive vibes and calmness that go hand in hand with being serene or in a state of zen and simply with being in your own balance. They also stand for good feelings and laughs that are brought along with the sun every summer and every glimpse we get of it as it shines through us like a higher consciousness lifting us out of the muddy pits we might have been in, fighting through dark, grey or simply off balanced days.

When I think of the meaning for Zereine, my head immediately goes to those wonderfully calming, energising and motivating mornings when you wake up on a summers day to see the sun slowly reaching its way in to your room, reaching out to you to wake you up for a new and warm day filled with sunlight and happiness – these mornings where you know you will have a great day as your mind and heart are set in the right balance for a wonderful day ahead.
At the same time I also have to think of these moments, sometimes days or even weeks where you are at perfect balance with yourself, at peace with where you have been and where you are right now as well as who you are right now – a time where you are centred within yourself and the happiness and positivity that you are feeling because you are at ease with and grateful for everything around you will shine through you reaching and intoxicating everyone around you like sunshine does on a wonderful day.

Becoming Zereine itself has many meanings to me personally and it warms my heart every time I think of it – I would love to hear what does Zereine mean for you. What is the first thought that pops into your head when you read it? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Beautiful write up Mira! I hadn’t known what Zereine meant before reading this post but honestly, the first thing that popped into my mind when seeing that word was serene. Mainly because knowing you and looking at you, you just look so serene and like a bundle of sunshine!
